"And this shall be a permanent statute for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble your souls, and not do any work, whether the native, or the alien who sojourns among you; for it is on this day that the atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you shall be clean from all your sins before the Lord."
Leviticus 16:29-30 (NASB)

The Bible Club at Goddard is open to all, so please invite guests and copy this newsletter for them. Please check the Dateline announcement for any last minute changes (these changes would most likely be in building or room, NOT day. If something looks strange in the Dateline, please check the newsletter or call one of the club officers). You are welcome to eat your lunch during the meeting. If you have any questions, please call/write Bill (Code 660.2/x6-7756), Warren (Code 540.5/x65183), Mike (Code 695/x6-3170), or Dan (301-937-4206).

Coming this month:

October 7th
The most solemn day in Judaism is Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement which begins at sundown October 5th this year. Mart DeHaan of Day of Discovery and Jimmy DeYoung, a Jerusalem journalist, will give us some details on the feast in today's video.

October 14th
We will continue looking into the history of how we got the Bible by learning some interesting facts concerning John Hus in today's video produced by the Christian History Institute.

October 21st
Charles Colson asks the question: "What does it mean to love God?" He was a former presidential aide that was imprisoned because of "Watergate," but is now a very outspoken messenger of the Gospel. He is the founder of Prison Fellowship, a ministry that reaches out to prisoners and their families. We at Goddard take part with the Angel Tree Project that is set up every November. This video entitled Loving God will let us know more about this author and his changed life.

October 28th
Dr. James Dobson states: "Everyday the media feeds our youth a steady diet of unhealthy images - violence, sex, suicide and the occult - that manipulate their minds. Children often embrace the activities they see glamorized." Find out what can be done to combat the harmful messages that prey on America's youth. Robert DeMoss, Jr. is featured on this video entitled Learn to Discern.

"For He hath made Him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him"
