April 2005

"For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments--I am the LORD. The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the LORD; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance."
Exodus 12:12-14 (NAS)

The Bible Club at Goddard is open to all, so please invite guests and copy this newsletter for them. Please check the Dateline announcement for any last minute changes (these changes would most likely be in building or room, NOT day. If something looks strange in the Dateline, please check the newsletter or call one of the club officers). You are welcome to eat your lunch during the meeting. If you have any questions, please call/write Bill (Code 660.2/x6-7756), Brent (Code 560/x6-8586), Mike (Code 560/x6-6069), or Veronica (code 662/x6-2739)

Coming this month:

April 5th
In the video today "The Fossil Record", Mike Riddle asks some questions:Where are all the transitional forms between the Precambrian and Cambrian Periods? And how well do some of the famous alleged fossil intermediates hold up to unbiased scientific investigation?

April 12th
Dr. Ken Curtis of the Christian History Institute will look at the Church in early modern times, and he has sub-titled this "The Age of Reason and Piety". The video will cover the time period from the first establishments of Pilgrims at Jamestown, VA and Plymouth through the early 1800s. Some of the names from this period are Bunyan, Bach, Voltaire, the Wesley brothers, Watts, Whitefield, Kant, and Edwards. A complete list will be on the back of the handout.

April 19th
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th 1809 in Nolin Creek, Kentucky, was granted a U.S. Patent in 1849 (the only President ever granted a patent), and became the 16th U.S. President in 1861 on March 4th. On April 12th the same year the Civil War began and "Honest Abe" was re-elected on November 8, 1864. President Lincoln was shot the evening of April 14,1865 and died the next morning. His funeral procession was on today's date in 1865. Join us as Dr. D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries takes a closer look via video of the man whose portrait is on the five dollar bill.

April 26th
A City set on a Hill: Christianity in the New World is what Dr. Ken Curtis calls the era from Queen Elizabeth I, the King James Bible, to the great revivals in America. Dr. Curtis is the president of Getaway films and will go into more details on today's video.

President's Notes:
It is a real privilege to have the opportunity to have the Bible Club at Goddard. I hear this over and over from people in all walks of life-from those in ministry, to those who could care less about the Bible and what it has to say. There are some in the Club that could use your reaching out with encouragement, kindness and friendship. This would also be true for the Goddard community, but especially for the fellowship. "Through love serve one another" Galatians 5:13c.

"Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?"And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, "The Teacher says, "My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples."

Matthew 26: 17-18
