December 2007

Micah 5:2 (NASB): "But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity."

The Bible Club at Goddard is open to all, so please invite guests and copy this newsletter for them. We meet on Tuesdays at noon in Building 21, Room 242 unless otherwise indicated. Please check the Dateline announcement for any last minute changes (these changes would most likely be in building or room, NOT day. If something looks strange in the Dateline, please check the newsletter or call one of the following club officers). You are welcome to eat your lunch during the meeting. If you have any questions, please call/write Bill (Code 660.2/x6-7756), Brian (Code 200/x6-1110), Bill (Code 323/x6-6370), or Mike (Code 560/x6-6069).

Coming this month:

December 4th
Today, we will have our Fellowship and Elections. Please call Richard, x6-8841, to arrange for bringing a food or beverage item. Cristina Doria-Warner, x6-1115, is coordinating the elections (open to any club member that is willing to serve in this capacity).

December 11th,
"God's Plan for You" will be the video shown today, featuring Dr. Charles Stanley of "In Touch Ministries" in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Stanley shares how making decisions that are consistent with the Scriptures results in peace. Come and receive this blessing.

December 18th,
Today we view the video, "What's the Church to Do?" Dr. Charles Colson of Prison Fellowship Ministries will give us some of his thoughts about ways the church can fulfill its original purpose. Come prepared to be stimulated and challenged.

President's Notes:

President's Notes: Again this year, the Bible Club will be collecting warm clothes for the men at the "Helping Up Mission" in Baltimore. (This is the mission where Reverend Gary Byers ministers. He spoke at the club last year about his avocation of participating in archaeological digs in the Holy Land.) The mission is home to over 300 men seeking positive change in their lives. The overnight ministry (4:30pm to 6:30am) is limited to 50 men, and the 1-year residential Spiritual Recovery Program (SRP) is currently ministering to 160 men with near-term plans to increase to 210. They also have a Graduate Transitional Housing ministry for 50 SRP graduates to stay up to two years. Finally, they have >40 residential staff and graduate interns.

There is a need for warm accessories (sweatshirts, knit hats, gloves, and socks), toilet kits (nothing with an alcohol base), and shower shoes (flip flops). Please bring these unwrapped gifts to building 2, room 18 or contact our Bible Club President Bill Daniels at x6-7756 for more information. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Matthew 2:5 - 6 (NASB): 'They said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet: 'AND YOU BETHLEHEM, LAND OF JUDAH, ARE BY NO MEANS LEAST AMONG THE LEADERS OF JUDAH; FOR OUT OF YOU SHALL COME FORTH A RULER WHO WILL SHEPHERD MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.' " '
