Fall 2004 2 Mile Fun Run: Team Results

The team turnout (and overall 2 Mile Fun Run turnout) was more difficult this race because of award banquets at the GSFC Rec Center and Landsat-7 yearly inclination maneuvers. Hopefully next race won't occur on such a busy day on-center. Even still, the PAAC-MEDS beat their most-impressive first place from last race with 55 participants. A very special thank-you to the team captains who assist in organizing the team paperwork. A very special thanks to Mr. John Sissala for processing the results.

The "Unknown" team captains are those for whom I received a team roster but did not necessarily indicate who (if anyone?) was captain. If you can enlighten me on such persons please email me.

Teams marked with "XXX" did not have the minimum required five persons to accurately calculate a speed entry (See GROC team rules). Importantly, the normalized results mean that the women--who generally are fewer in number and slower in absolute speed--can greatly contribute to the speed score. This years speed trophy goes to Bob's Rolling Stones; Ms. Teresa Lafouracde finished 13th in that teams absolute speed standings but jumped up to the top five finishers after the normalization. Hence her normalized time really helped earn the GROC 2 mile Fun Run speed trophy. Congratulations to all who participated!

The team score is the sum of the five lowest placement points of the team. The placement points for males are the same as the finish order among males (180 finishers). The placement points for females are normalized such that the first female finisher will have a placement point of one and the last (92nd) female finisher will have a placement point exactly equal to that of the last male finisher (92nd female place = 172 placement points).
