(4) Various Team Items
- Schedules were passed out. Season starts the week of
April 12th. We'll
have it on the web site soon.
- Waiver forms were passed out - same form as before.
Waivers should be
signed by every new player before that player plays - no
exceptions. We
will renew all the waivers every 2 years (next year). We
have all the
waivers on record with the League.
- During the first week, we will collect the waivers and
check the IDs
of>all the new players.
- Suggestion was made to encourage teams to recruit new
players. It is
okay for a team to put up flyers for new players for
their team. GEWA will
pay for the printing of the flyers. Captains should check
with Carl if
they want to do this. The League has already put in
announcements to the
GEWA Newsletter and Goddard Dateline. Alternatively,
someone can design a
flyer for the Soccer League that will be distributed by
all the captains.
(5) Referees
- We have decided to make a concerted effort this season
to evaluate the
referees (both good and bad) to improve our chances of
getting better
referees assigned to our games. Steve Dobrosielski has
volunteered to
coordinate the gathering of the referee evaluation forms.
We have forms in
our display case by the field. JT volunteered to bring in
a form also that
he has used. Ideally, we'll also have this on our web
site so we all can
see the results.
(6) Field Renovation Plans
- Barry Coyle gave a quick summary of the information and
costs he has
gathered on renovating our field. The top priorities are
to (1) Get water
to the field (a well?) for watering during dry spells (2)
Improve the
drainage. This will be a costly project (thousands of $$)
but GEWA has
indicated that they will work with us if we can provide
them a detailed
plan. Steve Brown and Guilio Rosanova have volunteered to
work with Barry
to put together a detailed plan to present to the
Executive Committee.
Other suggestions for improvements to the field include
bleachers and new
goalposts. Barry will put in a request for additional
picnic tables from GEWA.
