" With the level of conditioning I am in, that was the hardest thing I've ever done.  In 20 years of endurance sports, even the hardest days on the tour, nothing was so hard.  I thought the marathon was easier than that.  It's a tough event.  I don't know how these guys do it. "    -- Lance Armstrong quote after running the New York Marathon in 2006

Latest News:

The Spring Fun Runs, sponsored by the Goddard Running & Orienteering Club (GROC), will be held Wednesday April 16 for the 2-mile and on the 23rd for the 10k.  The start line for the 2-miler is by the Fitness Lab (Building 97) with a prompt start at noon.  The 10k competition is conducted at Buddy Attick Park around Greenbelt Lake and also starts at noon.

Race day registration for the 2-miler begins around 11:20 a.m. near the start line for $5, and preregistration for $3 begins now at the Fitness Lab.  There is no charge for the 10k race, but there is registration at the lake starting at 11:30 a.m.

Our competitors are NASA Langley, in Virginia, and NASA Ames in California.  Goddard puts up stiff competition with many runners (and sometimes walkers!) winning in their age groups.  This is the 65th NASA Intercenter Running Competition.  Get walking or running now, mark your calender, and I hope to see you out there.

The 10k walk will also be held around the time of the Fun Runs:  April 17 (11:15 a.m. start) and April 22 (11:00 a.m. start).  For further information about the 10k walk please contact Tony Martino at 6-8309 (Anthony.J.Martino@nasa.gov).

Come on out and get some exercise and fresh air!  If you can't run it, please consider helping us as a volunteer.
